In the days before high-tech fabrics and advanced outerwear, travellers relied on hardwearing clothing to protect them from the elements, often using natural materials in creative ways. This era demanded practical attire that could withstand the rigours of travel. Wool coats, dark colours, and wide-brimmed hats became staples, shielding travellers from dirt, dust, and harsh weather.  

In the modern world, the creation of synthetic fabrics brought about lighter and smaller clothing that resisted wrinkles and dried quickly – perfect for the growing ease and speed of travel. Whilst the fabrics and styles changed over time one thing remained steadfast at its core, the need for each item to be rooted in utility and comfort.
