ORIGINS

The origins of US Navy sweatshirts can be traced back to the early 20th century when basic training for Navy recruits was a demanding and rigorous process. Sailors-in-training were provided with sweatshirts as part of their uniform, serving both practical and symbolic purposes. These garments were not only meant to keep sailors warm during intense physical activities but also represented their affiliation with the esteemed US Navy. 

Throughout the years, the design and style of these sweatshirts have evolved alongside the changing needs of the Navy. Initially, these garments were simple and utilitarian, but as the Navy progressed, so did the sweatshirt designs. Different iterations were introduced to enhance comfort, durability, and functionality. They were designed to withstand the rigours of training and maintain their functionality in various weather conditions.
