Ed Stanford and the Rogue Collection: A Journey Into Vintage and Artistry

We had the privilege of sitting down with British artist Ed Stanford, the artist behind the hand-painted details of the Night FLY-R jacket. This jacket, which launched the much-anticipated Rogue Collection, marked a pivotal moment for both Ed and &SONS.

Through his unique craftsmanship and his passion for vintage, Ed has brought a sense of history and artistry to this collaboration, weaving the past into a modern narrative that resonates deeply with our values at &SONS.

Ed’s journey into the world of vintage began in his youth, rooted in stories shared by his grandparents, both veterans of World War II. "I used to watch old war films with them," Ed recalls. "That's where my interest in vintage clothing started—especially the effortless style of the '40s and '50s." From there, his fascination with craftsmanship grew, eventually leading him to create Stanford Vintage, a brand that focuses on preserving and restoring classic garments.

What sets Ed apart is not just his love for vintage clothing but his passion for the history behind each piece. "I’m fascinated by the patina of old leather jackets, the fades on denim, and imagining who wore these items and what kind of life they had," he says. His ability to tell a story through clothing is what drew us to his work and what makes this collaboration so special.

In our conversation, we learned about his creative process when it comes to hand-painting garments, which is far from simple. "It starts with a hand drawing, then moves to digital illustrations, and eventually to a final piece," Ed explains. "The best part is when you refine it—adding the highlights, shading, and detailing." He’s always experimenting with different materials, from cowhide to goatskin and even denim, which provides unique challenges with each new piece. "Each fabric has its quirks, but that’s what I love about it. It’s about figuring out what works best."

It’s this level of attention to detail and artistry that makes Ed’s collaboration with Rogue by &SONS such a natural fit. "We share similar values," Ed states. "It’s about the history, the storytelling, and the passion behind the craftsmanship. It’s the detailing that really matters, and that's something we both care about deeply."

For Ed, vintage clothing isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about preserving the history and stories that these garments carry. His collection reflects a deep respect for the past, and this partnership with &SONS is a perfect extension of that. The Night Fly-R jacket is more than just a piece of clothing; it’s a work of art that bridges the past and present, connecting us to a time when clothing told a story through every stitch and wear.

From the meticulous hand-painting process to the thoughtful curation of each design, the Rogue Collection is a celebration of craftsmanship, history, and art. We’re proud to have worked with Ed on this unique collaboration and look forward to revealing the stories that will unfold with each piece of the Rogue Collection.
